9. THE SURGICAL UNIT / DIVISION
OF FUENSANTA CLINIC

Dr. Antonio Martín Duce The first procedure was carried out by Dr Antonio Martín Duce in the Hospital Principe de Asturias on 15 September 1994.

Since then the results having been highly satisfactory with nil mortality and a minimum morbidity.

These excellent results were obtained thanks to an exhaustive dedication to the matter and the creation of a strict protocol before, during and after the procedure. Its excellence has been acknowledged by members of the Spanish Society of Surgical Obesity.

The Surgical Unit / Division of Fuensanta Clinic Since 2001 Dr Martin Duce, in the Endocrine and Obesity Surgical Unit of Fuensanta Clinic in Madrid, has followed the same procedures having given so many satisfactory results of these past years.

This unit is composed of a group of professional obesity specialists covering all stages of the procedure: anaesthetists, surgeons, psychiatrists, clinic psychologists, nutritionists, intensivists, physiotherapists, endocrinologists, intern and instrument specialists. Their grouped work allows a greater chance of success as far as the surgical results are concerned.
